    Died Wednesday - Fatally injured when struck by Automobile. Injuries sustained when he was struck by an automobile Monday proved fatal to Charles Mens, well known Owatonnan, who died early last evening at the City Hospital. Mr. Mens was rushed to the hospital following the accident and an emergency brain operation was undergone in an attempt to save his life. He failed to rally. The accident happened at about noon Monday when Mr. Mens was walking towards his home seven blocks east of St Paul Street on Mineral Springs Avenue. He was crossing the avenue at the St Paul intersection when struck by a westbound car. Arrangements for the funeral in charge by Hanna Meyer Service will be made today. on Thursday, 23 December 1943 Owatonna, Steele County, Minnesota.

On May 5, 1920, he married Eida Eickhoff in Owatonna. Mrs. Mens preceded her husband in death in 1983. Mrs. Mens was
    employed as a mchanic for the Owatonna Canning Company, retiring in 1963.
    Surivors include three sons, Harold, Owatonna, Charles, Bedford VA, and
    Maynard, Texas; a sister, Alvina Eickhoff, California; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister.
    The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, 1301 Lincoln
    Ave. The Rev. R. Rudolf officiates. Interment is at Grandview Memorial
    Garden. Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Michaelson Funeral Home, 303 S. Cedar St. and one hour before the service Thursday at the church. on Tuesday, 31 July 1984.

She worked as a PBX operator and for several insurance companies in Portland before retiring in 1971. She was a homemaker for most of her life.
    Surviving are her sons, Robert of Tigard and John of King City; brother, Michael Burger of Chula Vista, Calif; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the Parkinson's Association.

    Survivors include her son, Douglas Moore of Portland; sister, Agnes Bellinger of King City; and a brother, Michael Burger of Chula Vista, Calif. Entombment was in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to Hopewell House.
