    April 22, 1924 - May 30, 2003
SALEM - Arlene Pfau was born to Theron and Ara Hicks on April 22, 1924 in Colorado. Her family moved to Oregon in 1929 when Arlene was 5 years old. In 1941 Arlene worked at Johnson’s Clothing Store in Salem. During the same year, she met Joseph Pfau and was unable to resist his charm. They were married soon after on June 5, 1943. Two years later they moved to their onion farm on Lake Labish, where they lived together for 58 years. Arlene was cherished as a talented and dedicated organist at her church for nearly 50 years. Her beautiful yard illustrated her expertise and passion for gardening. She also enjoyed finding “treasures” at thrift stores and garage sales. To her friends and family she was a beautiful woman and a great source of strength and encouragement
Arlene lived a life of love and selflessness, reflecting her personal relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ. She had a special impact on the lives of her family, neighbors and friends, and was warm and accepting of everyone she met.
Arlene and Joe found great encouragement in their faith and each other, which helped them find strength through the death of their daughter Janet.
She is survived by Joe Pfau, her best friend and life partner of 60 years; her children; Robert, Judy and Benjamin; her 5 grand children; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thurs., June 5 at the Peoples Church. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Ridgon-Ransom Funeral Directors, Salem.
