Betty Jean Fales of Fort Bragg died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 after a short illness. Born on Oct. 28, 1937 in Covelo, Calif., to Arthur and Georgia Campbell, she was 66. Memorial services were held on April 10. Arrangements were made by Chapel by the Sea.
Mrs. Fales grew up and attended schools in Mendocino County. She was a homemaker, small business owner (Eager Beaders Bead Company), and an Avon Sales Rep. She enjoyed crocheting and doing her Native American beadwork. She was a member of the Sherwood Valley Band of Pomo Indians where she always stayed involved one way or another. She was special to everyone who knew her because of her caring and unselfish attitude. Her wheelchair never stopped her from trying to stay active and she never complained ever of being in pain. She was a co-chairman in 1965 of the PTA Child Health Conference and received a letter from the Public Health Nurse thanking her for having everything set up and staffed twice a month with volunteers.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas H. Fales Sr; daughters, Leslie Fales, Susan and Noel Wickstrom, Lisa and George Brown, and Jodi Fales; son, Tom and Gina Fales. She is also survived by her sisters, Harriet Rhodes of Fort Bragg, Margaret Hoaglen of Covelo, brother Wayne Campbell of Willits, and grandchildren Kyle and Stevie Porter, Andy and Taylor Fales, Riley and K. C. Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Mendocino Coast Dialysis Project and the Arthritis Foundation.
