    Memorial services for Ruth LaVerne Tatom of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Nazarene Church on the Hill. The Revs. Lon Eckdahl and John Hicks will be officiating.
    Private family interment will be conducted at the McMinnville Masonic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors.
    Mrs. Tatom died at Life Care Center of McMinnville on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006. She was 88.
    Born in Gopher Valley on March 5, 1918, she was the daughter of Charles Nelson and Mildred Margaret (Post) Agee. After growing up in Gopher Valley, she graduated from Sheridan High School.
    She married Randall Clay Tatom on June 25, 1937, in Vancouver, Wash. They settled in Sheridan initially, then McMinnville.
    Except for two years in Port Angeles, Wash., from 1950-52, and three years in Grants Pass, from 1961-1964, they made McMinnville their home the rest of their lives. Prior to his death, she and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987.
    Mrs. Tatom was an active volunteer at the Nazarene Church. She worked in the daycare program and provided transportation for many.
    Her family said she was well known for gifts to her church and family.
    She is survived by three daughters, Linda Peterson and Ardelle Ellison of McMinnville and Karen Smith of Portland; a brother, John Agee of Prineville; a sister, Betty Schmitz of Stayton; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Melvin and Norman Agee, and a sister, Millie Agee.

    SALEM - Charles Melvin Agee, 81, of Salem died Tuesday. He was born in Sheridan, Ore. He was former Mayor of Sheridan and owned Agee's Market in Sheridan until 1974. He worked for United Grocers until moving to Keizer in 1978. He began driving school buses for the Salem-Keizer School District until his wife passed away in 1989. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the York Rite - Sheridan Lodge #64, and was secretary for many years at the lodge. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII as a radioman; stationed on the U.S.S. Basswood. Survivors include his son, Steve Agee of Salem; daughters, April Barnes of O'Fallon, Ill., and Melissa Hazenberg of St. Paul, Ore; sisters, Ruth Tatom of McMinnville and Betty Schmitz of Stayton; brothers, Ray Agee of Willamina and John Agee of Prineville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem. Memorial services will be 10 a.m.l Monday, December 17 at Willamette Lutheran Homes Chapel, 7693 Wheatland Rd.     Funeral services for August (Gus) Glen Baunach, late of Grand Ronde, were held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. from St. Michael's Catholic church in Grand Ronde, with Father Snyder officiating. Interment was in St. James cemetery in McMinnville. A rosary was recited Monday evening at the chapel of the Sheridan Funeral home.
    Gus Baunach passed away suddenly Friday, May 5, at the age of 23 years, 2 months, and 9 days. He lived near Grand Ronde most of his life, and was graduated with the class of 1946 at the Willamina Union high school. He was married in January 1950, to Miss Sharon Gilstrap.
    Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Grand Ronde; his mother, Mrs. Ivan Caligan of Grand Ronde; his father, August Baunach, of Tacoma, Wash; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Davies of Grand Ronde and Mrs. Dorothy Larkins of Sheridan; two brothers, Robert of the Army Air Corps and Jack of Portland, and a host of friends.
    Pallbearers were Lyle Johnson, Dwayne Grosser, Eddie Fox, Ray Agee, Fred Johnson, and Ike Risseeuw.

    He was the son of Nelson and Mildred (Post) Agee. Born in Sheridan on Oct. 5, 1922, he lived there until he joined the Army during Wolrd War II as part of the Sunset Division in the South Pacific.
    On Feb. 14, 1952, he married Sharon Gilstrap Baunach in Sheridan. He was employed by Hampton Lumber until his retirement in February 1990.
    Mr. Agee moved to Willamina in 1992. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and wood working. He was a member of the VFW.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Glen Baunach of Corvallis and Brent of Willamina; a daughter, Susan Lovette of Vancouver; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
    Mr. Agee was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

    Randall C. Tatom, 71, a former Sheridan area resident, died Aug. 5 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Portland.
    He was born Feb. 5, 1916 in Sheridan, the son of Guy and Lilly Mae Hulet Tatom. He married Ruth Agee on June 25, 1937 in Vancouver, Wash.
    A 1935 graduate of Sheridan High School, he lived in the Sheridan-Willamina area until 1950 when he moved to Port Angeles. In 1952 he moved to McMinnville and then in 1961 moved to Grants Pass for three years before returning to McMinnville. He worked for many years for Taylor Lumber Co. and Risberg Truck Lines. He was an avid fisherman and built custom fishing rods. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, McMinnville.
    Survivors include his wife, Ruth of McMinnville; daughters, Ardelle Ellison, McMinnville, Linda Sharp and Karen Smith, both of Portland; brothers, Dean, Canby, Donald, Grants Pass, and Marvin, Salem; sisters, Blanche Wilson, Lorraine Hawkins and Marjorie Wallin, all of Grants Pass, Helen Mendenhall, Winchester, Vivian Lux, Pacific City, and Barbara Bronson, Tillamook. A brother, Eldon, preceded him in death.
    Services were held Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene, McMinnville, with Rev. Wes Smith officiating. Memorials may be made to the church building fund. Macy and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Benjamin Lowe, farmer, section 11, Wayne Township, was born in Wayne County, Ohio, April 11, 1841. When about twelve years of age he removed with his parents, Elijah and Lucy Lowe, to Miami County, where he was reared and educated. His parents were among the first settlers of that county. They had five children - Joseph, Oliver, Elizabeth, Lucy and Benjamin. March 4, 1875, our subject was married to Annetta Brundige, born November 21, 1841, daughter of Uriah and Adaline Brundige. The mother died when Annetta was two years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Lowe have four children - Laura, born January 13, 1876; Clyde U., born December 10, 1877; Martha, born March 21, 1879, and Lucy, born March 4, 1881. In the fall of 1879 Mr. Lowe came to this county and settled upon his present farm, which consists of seventy acres of well-improved land. Politically he affiliates with the Republican party.
