The next 25 years they spent traveling through Canada, Mexico and the United States in their motor home.They spent their winters in Yuma, Ariz., and summers in Oregon, as park hosts for the Siuslaw National Forest for 18 years.In 2010 Cassie moved to Tigard, Ore., to live with her son, Kent. Her husband passed away in October 2000 in Grants Pass. Cassie was a great-great-granddaughter of John Brisbin who died at Grave Creek in 1846 on the Applegate Trail, and a granddaughter of Isaac Kent who came to Oregon on the Oregon Trail in early 1852.She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers. She enjoyed genealogy, bridge, reading and traveling. Cassie is survived by her son, Kent Higginbotham and his wife, Linda of Tigard, Ore; a daughter-in-law, Patty Higginbotham of Grants Pass, who was married to the late Fred Higginbotham; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Instead of flowers, Cassie wanted memorial contributions made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

He was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed playing bridge. after 14 October 2000.
