Elizabeth (Epperson) was born 16 May 1924 in Mena, Arkansas and was raised in Bromide, Oklahoma. In 1942 she moved to San Diego, CA where she worked in a shipyard along with hundreds of other “Rosie the Riveter’s”, among other jobs, during WWII. While in San Diego, she met and married her life-long husband Roy E. Pope in 1944. While living in San Diego, they had their first child Ed. In 1947, they moved their family to Beaumont, TX where they welcomed the birth of twins Brenda and David in 1949. They later moved to Fort Worth, TX until 1955 when the family relocated to Grants Pass, OR.
She was a participating partner in business with her husband in Grants Pass. After they sold their primary business in the early-1970’s, she attended Southern Oregon University and received her certificate as a Registered Nurse. She then worked in the nursing profession in Grants Pass and Medford for 22 years before retirement.
Elizabeth enjoyed camping, fishing and other outdoor activities with her family and friends. She had a strong Christian faith which guided her throughout her life during good times and bad.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her son David Ray Pope in 1964 and husband Roy E. Pope in 2001; shortly after Roy’s death she moved to Medford. She is survived by two sisters, Lillian Venable of Oklahoma City, OK and Lee Neufeldt of Beaverton, OR, one brother George Epperson of Hobbs, NM, one son Edmond D. Pope, of State College, PA and Brenda Fay Linstrom, her daughter, of Denver, CO. In addition to her son and daughter, Elizabeth is survived by four grandchildren, Brett of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dustin of State College, PA, Sean Linstrom of Houston, TX and Jennifer Linstrom of Denver, CO, respectively. She also leaves two great grandsons (Brett and Timmy) and two great granddaughters (Juliet and Olivia).
Elizabeth’s remains have been interred with her husband Roy’s remains at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Grants Pass. after 9 August 2014 Medford, Jackson County, Oregon.
