  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the Frank Edward Kochendorfer was born October 2, 1925 in Tieton, Washington and died June 12, 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Ed was the youngest of four children born to Benjamin and Adelia Kochendorfer. Ed lived in Tieton until he was 22 years old at which time he moved to Portland, Oregon.

    He worked with his father in the orchard business until he moved. Ed was first introduced to Lois Zinser in August 1945. They were married on December 4, 1948. They enjoyed 53 years of married life until her death March 3, 2002. To their union, two sons were born; David in 1953 and Karl in 1955.

    Ed worked at several jobs in Portland; the last one being the best working as a mail carrier which he did for 29 years and received a special achievement award. It was noted when he retired that he had received more than 2,500 hours of sick leave, untaken, which allowed him to retire a year early.

    He liked to play horseshoes, was a member of a bowling team, collected stamps and enjoyed traveling. He also had a love for fruit trees and pruned for other people. When he retired, he bought a cider press and made apple cider which he loved to share with family and friends. He worked with the Boy Scouts, being a Cub Master three years and then a Scout Committee member for four years. He was a member of the Evangelical Church all his life. In his growing up years, he was a member of the Highland Evangelical United Brethren Church; when he moved to Oregon, he was a lifelong member of the Happy Valley Evangelical Church, serving as a youth advisor, Sunday school secretary, a member-at-large, was, was an usher for many years and also served several terms as Trustee.

    Ed is survived by his sons, David (Carol) and Karl (Kim); six grandchildren, Jeremy (Barb), Nathan (Megan), Michael (Danielle), Steven (Mari), Andrew, Stacy (Chad); five great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Joshua, Alex, Katelynn and Alyvia. after 12 June 2016 Oregon.
