    His funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Day Family Funeral Home in Cut Bank, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease.
    He was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Conrad, and graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1947. He joined the Marine Corps and served in the Korean War.
    He married Margaret L. Spreeuw May 23, 1948, in Cut Bank.
    Smith worked for the Arras Tank Co. until 1952, then worked for Cut Bank Refinery until health reasons forced him to quit.
    He enjoyed fishing, gardening, rock hunting and playing the guitar.
    Survivors include his wife of Cut Bank two sons, Daryl Smith and Robert Smith of Cut Bank five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    A son, James Smith, has died.
