    Leonard Loring Britt, 73, of Dallas died May 15 in Dallas.
    He was born in Dallas to Harry D. and Rozella J. Frink Britt.
    Leonard graduated from Valsetz High School in 1955 and played football and basketball during his school years.
    He met Phyllis Kay Barstad in Valsetz and they were married on July 25, 1959, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Dallas.
    He worked for Willamette Industries for 35 years and retired as a millwright in 1997.
    Leonard and Phyllis moved from Valsetz to Salem and later settled in Dallas in 1961.
    He loved to hunt and fish.
    For 41 years, Leonard was a member of the Independence Elks Lodge and had a set of prize antlers displayed in the lodge. He also was a volunteer with the Dallas Fire Department for 10 years.
    Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; sons, Ken and Kevin; brother, Dale (Irene) Britt of Detroit, Mich; and four grandchildren.
    Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center.
