Grant County Undersheriff Todd McKinley said the accident occurred seven miles south of Prairie City, where Taner Gilliam and some friends had been riding four-wheelers.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. when Gilliam, 16, took a ride down the road and his four-wheeler overturned.
Companions located Gilliam at the wreck and called 911 for emergency assistance. He was taken by AirLink to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, where he was reported in critical condition Tuesday.
