She was a longtime resident of Corvallis after marrying E. LeRoy Kennedy on her 18th birthday in 1948. She and LeRoy divorced in 1971 although she helped care for him during his last illness until he passed away on Jan. 24, 2007. Fran worked as a meat wrapper at Price’s Meat Market and McGarry’s IGA during her early married years. She also worked as a bartender at Murphy’s Tavern and for many years worked at the Moose Lodge before starting the Kennedy Amusement Company. Fran married Merle Gee in 1978 in Reno, Nev. She retired after the Oregon State Lottery bought out the business. For years after her retirement, she enjoyed traveling between her home at the coast and her home in Corvallis. She was an avid gardener and member of the Eagles, Moose Lodge and VFW. Filled with strength and courage, Fran was a four-time cancer survivor. She will always be remembered for her generosity and for never forgetting a birthday or anniversary of those she knew. She is survived by daughter Jodi Carter of Prescott, Wash., and husband Rich; daughter Patty Tope of Corvallis and husband Lory; daughter Terry Byers and husband Lonnie; step-daughter Linda Peterson and step-son Mike Gee; four grandchildren, Alecia Webber, Rachel Derry, Ryan and Cody Byers; and great-grandchildren Colton and Cassidy Webber. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Gee; son Hal Kennedy; sister Shirley Erb; her parents, Oscar and Lillian Johnson; and numerous aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the DeMoss-Durdan Chapel, Ron Parkhurst officiating. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to Benton Hospice Service in Fran’s name. on Tuesday, 7 August 2007 Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon.
