  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the Donald A. Chester, age 76 of rural Tiffin, Ohio died at 6:43 A.M., Monday, March 31, 2025 at The Willows of Tiffin. He was born on June 4, 1948 in Wharton, Ohio to Donald “Tunnie” and Kathryn (Baker) Chester. He married Connie (Cook) Chester and they later divorced. Surviving are two sons: Danny (Fran) Shook, rural Tiffin, O. and Donnie (Carrie) Chester, Jackson, Missouri. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Grant Shook, Cora Robey, Kinsley Chester and Asa Chester. Donald is also survived by five brothers and one sister: Dave (Mary Beth) Chester, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Doug (Jean) Chester, Benton, Ohio, Danny (Mary) Chester, Pataskala, Ohio, Dale Chester, rural Sycamore, Ohio, Denny (Lou) Chester, rural Sycamore, Ohio, and Diane Beidelschies, Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Chester, besides his parents. The family would like to thank the V.A. Clinic in Marion, The Willows of Tiffin, and Nancy Ludwig for the good care they have given Donnie over the last couple of years. Donald was a retired union electrician working most of the time at the Jeep plants in Toledo. He was a 1966 graduate of Mohawk High School, was a member of the Sycamore American Legion Post #250, and was a member of the Tiffin Amvets and Tiffin VFW Post. Donald helped with a lot of motorcycle escorts around the country with the Vietnam Traveling Wall. He served his country in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era from 1968-1974. Donald loved to go hunting especially for duck and deer. He loved to fish, take trips on his motorcycle having traveled to Sturgis eleven times, and playing golf. A memorial service for Donald will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with Pastor Roxanne Roush officiating. Burial will follow at Benton Cemetery, Crawford County where the Sycamore American Legion will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service.
