Jack was born to James William Mercer and Phyllis Todd Mercer on July 15, 1950 in Enid, Oklahoma. His father was career Air Force and they lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Bermuda and Missouri before moving to Denison in 1963. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Denison High School. He married Woodye Gilliam, the love of his life on February 26, 1977 at Virginia Point Methodist Church. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this year with a trip to San Diego and Maui. He was an Electronic Technician at Texas Instruments for 32 years working at the Sherman location and Dallas location.
  Jack was the kind of person that could repair almost anything and loved figuring out how something worked. In his leisure time he enjoyed time at the family cabin on Lake Texoma, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bells, and the Texoma Em-maus Community. For many years he was an assistant scout master of Bells Boy Scout Troop 41.
  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Woodye Mercer, daughter, Edie Howell and son-in-law Chris of Durant, OK; sons, John Mark Mercer of Kingston, OK and Jason Mercer and daught-er-in-law Emma of Durham, NC; mother, Phyllis Mercer of Denison; mother-in-law, Frances Gilliam of Bells; brother, Joe Mercer (Kath-erine);sister Linda Ad-ams (Wayne) brother-in-laws Barney Gilliam (Sherry), John Gilliam (Paula); grandchildren, Christian, Chelsea, Collin, Jordan, Courtlan, Johnathan, Joshua, Sydney, and Addie; special cousin, Becky; nephew, Bradley and niece, Tiffany; special friends Brenda and Gary, numerous other family and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Mercer and father-in-law, Don Gil-liam.
  Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel. Officiating the service will be Rev. Wally Butts. Jack's wish was to be cremated and a private family burial will follow at a later date.
  The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel.
