  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the A memorial service for former Racine County District Attorney Gerald Clickner will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hanson Funeral Home, 3014 Northwestern Ave. Clickner, 69, died Tuesday at his home at 3601 St. Andrews Court. First appointed district attorney in 1965 by Gov. Warren Knowles, Clickner served as the county's top prosecutor until his defeat in a primary election in 1978. A 1941 graduate of Park High School, Clickner enlisted in the army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Silver Star and the Purple Heart, and later served during the Korean War. Clickner got his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1955 and graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1958. After a couple of years in private practice in Racine, he joined the district attorney's office in 1960. Five years later he became district attorney. Clickner also ran three unsuccessful campaigns for Racine County judgeships.
