Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington. Suzanne was born May 27, 1956, in Bloomington, to Paul and Velma Swibaker Thoennes. They preceded her in death. She married Barry Kaufman on Aug. 2, 1980, in Bloomington. He survives. She is also survived by two children, Ben Kaufman, Bloomington, and Brianna (Joshua) Horine, Arrowsmith, and five siblings, Theresa Thoennes, Normal; Mark (Sue) Thoennes, Bloomington; Kathy Thoennes, Bloomington; Julie (Jim Hutchins) Thoennes, Normal; and Laurel Thoennes, Chico, Calif. Suzanne was a 1974 graduate of University High School in Normal. She worked for her family's company, Creative Kitchens and Baths in Bloomington, for 33 years as a designing draftsman. She loved music and the arts and especially loved the outdoors and spent much time with Barry camping, hiking, canoeing and fishing. She also enjoyed her flowers. Suzanne was a loving mother and wife. She lived for time with her family and would do anything for her children. She was and still is her husband’s soulmate and best friend. Suzanne loved her siblings and regretted them growing apart. She loved to dance, sing and spend time outside, whether it was by a fire or watching a thunderstorm. Her empathy at times was overwhelming and her heart bled for everyone. She has impacted our hearts and souls, and even though she will always be with us, she will be deeply missed.     Surviving are eight children, Karen (Tom) Gaines, Heyworth; Cindy (Larry) Allison, Normal; Steve (Cindy) Bair, Ottawa; Mike (Cheri) Bair, Normal; David (Deanna Deatrick) Bair, Bloomington; Jeff (Becky) Bair, Hudson; John Bair, Michigan; and Mary (Ed Samuel) Wilson, Collinsville; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Madelyn Nottingham, California.

    She was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and four grandchildren.

    Loretta was born and raised in Bloomington-Normal and was known by many as Jo Bair. She graduated from Trinity High School in 1948, and was employed as both a hostess and waitress in many of Bloomington-Normal's fine restaurants for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Bloomington.
