She enjoyed the challenge of working with her hands and dearly loved operating and taking care of her cottages. She will be remembered for her love for others and spirit of determination. She is survived by her partner, Penny Miller of Ocean Park; a brother, Victor Curl in California; a sister, Mary A. Curl in North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach. Memorials may be made to Camp Victory or the Blue Sawhorse Animal Shelter, envelopes for which are available at Penttila's Chapel.
