  Mrs. Peil was born Helena Radach on July 26, 1933, in Alfred, N.D., and grew up in Sunnyside, Wash. She was a lab technician for Independence Foods for 25 years, retiring in 1998, when she moved to Portland.
  Survivors include her sons, Clyde H. Belieu and Terry L. Belieu; brothers, Robert Radach, Thomas J. Radach and Fred Radach; sisters, Irene Hall and Ruth Taylor; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her son Michael Belieu died in 1978.
