Arthur T. Austin, 73, died at his home at Wenatchee at an early hour Friday. Austin was born in West Olympia on the old Austin donation land claim, which reached from the bay near the Woodard place for a distance of a mile and a half to the west. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Austin, early pioneers. His early life was spent here, where he was engaged in lumbering. Later he entered the employee of the Northern Pacific as a timber cruiser, continuing with the company for about 20 years. In 1912 he moved to Seattle, and 15 years ago located at Wenatchee where he was engaged in apple raising. He was married to Miss Lucy McCafferty in this city October 13, 1880 and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Monday. Surviving besides the widow is a half brother, John Austin, Mud Bay, and a half sister, Mrs. Ivy Neely, Hoquiam. THe remains are being brought to this city and funeral services will be held from the Mills chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in a local cemetery.
