L.G. Headrick, Alsea Farmer Dies From Cancer 10 Days After Illness Develops
Linn G. Headrick, native of Oregon who had farmed in the Alsea valley a number of years, died at the Corvallis General Hospital about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Headrick's death resulted from cancer which doubtless had been developing in recent months, although Mr. Headrick had not realized that his condition was serious and came to Corvallis to consult a physician less than ten days ago. Immediate relatives were unaware that he was ill and his passing comes as a shock to these and a wide circle of friends.
Mr. Headrick was born in Linn county March 8, 1868, and had spent his life of 56 years in the Willamette valley. He was the son of pioneers of the state and had devoted his years to farming in Alsea valley. He was married here and is survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters. They are Miss Edna and Miss Garland Headrick and Roscoe Headrick of Alsea, and Edwin Headrick of Nebraska, Grover Headrick of Corvallis is a brother and other brothers and sisters are Otto and A.L. Headrick of Salem, Mrs. M.M. Preston of Wasco, Idaho, and Mrs. G.H. Rycraft of Corvallis.
The remains will be taken to Alsea for interment, the funeral party leaving Corvallis at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. The service at Alsea will be in charge of the Odd Fellows, of which order Mr. Headrick was a member.
