Ruth Elizabeth Friesen, 88, of Salem died Sept. 27.
She was born in Salem to George and Mae Johns Van Laanen.
She married Harry E. Friesen on March 16, 1938 in Vancouver, Wash.
Ruth worked for the Polk County Extension Service, the cities of Eugene and Milwaukee, and the Marion County Housing Authority, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Lents Evangelical Church in Portland for 24 years and in recent years attended Grace Baptist Church in Salem.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Friesen in 2006.
She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; sons, James Friesen of Lincoln City and Philip Friesen of Salem; sister, Dorothy Nickerson of Salem; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service is 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6 at Grace Baptist Church in Salem and private interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Salem.
