    FOREST CITY, IL - Diane Ruth Dosier, a teacher in the Forman school district for more than 30 years, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Mason City Area Nursing Home, with loving family by her side. She was 74.

    Born Aug. 23, 1935, in Madison, Wis., Diane was the daughter of Dr. Melvin and Eleanor Doner. She grew up in Winona, Minn., graduated from Winona High School in 1953, and received a B.S. in home economics from Iowa State University in 1957, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

    Diane married John Dosier on May 31, 1958, in Winona, Minn. After one year in the Los Angeles area, she and John moved to the family farm in Forest City in 1959. Diane taught fifth grade, sixth grade and home economics during her tenure at Forman schools from 1959 until her retirement in 1993.

    Diane was a loving and devoted mother and wife who had a passion and aptitude for education, and is fondly remembered by generations of her students. She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking, sewing and cats.

    She was a proud member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, an international women's organization devoted to the promotion of educational opportunities for women, for more than 50 years.

    Survivors include her four loving children, Dr. Karen Ralls of Oxford, England, Denise (Keith) Gregg of Elm Grove, Wis., David (Lisa) Dosier of Forest City and Mark (Beth) Dosier of Chicago; three siblings, David Doner of Bloomington, Minn., Dr. Landis (Janet) Doner of Wyndmoor, Pa., and Linda (Carmine) Rossetti of Colorado Springs, Colo; and eight grandchildren.

    Diane's loving husband of more than 51 years, John, preceded her in death by two weeks. Her father also preceded her in death.

    Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Interment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Forest City.

    Donald was born on the family farm near Green Valley, Illinois, to Vernice G. and Marjorie M. Ingersoll on Jan. 19, 1921. He married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne J. Darling, on Nov. 23, 1941; she died on Oct. 19, 2009.

    He is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean and husband Terry Richmond of Federal Way, Washington; his granddaughter, Aimee and husband Patrick Rhoads of Federal Way, Washington; grandson, Justin Richmond and wife Caroline of Washington D.C; great-granddaughter, Rowan Rhoads; and one brother, Bruce C. Ingersoll and wife Carol of Morton, Illinois.

    Donald grew up in Peoria, attending Longfellow Grade School, Woodruff High School and graduating from Bradley University in 1948.

    Don was proud to serve his country during World War II as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He was a pilot and bomber pilot flight instructor.

    Don was a terrific dancer and taught ballroom dancing while a student at Bradley. He and Jeanne danced beautifully together and were members and club officers of the Prom Club in Peoria.

    After graduation, he and Jeanne both worked at Caterpillar Inc., later moving to LaGrange, Illinois, working for Clark Equipment Co. and owner of Ingersoll Hardware in LaGrange. He also was owner of Ingersoll Hardware in Peoria at Forrest Hill and Gale until retirement, when they moved to Batesville, Indiana, to be near their daughter, Donna, and family.

    While living in Peoria, Donald was a member of Forrest Hill Methodist Church, Illinois Lodge 263, Scottish Rite of Peoria and Mohammed Temple Shrine. He marched with the Shrine Drill Patrol for many years.

    Don loved to fish and had many vacations fishing in Wisconsin and a memorable trip to northern Canada with brother, Bruce.

    In later years he was a great champion of conservative causes, contributing and writing many letters supporting America and its Constitution.

    Burial will be in United Methodist Cemetery of Batesville.

    She was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Peoria, Ill., a daughter of Clarence and Mildred Burbridge Darling. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald V. Ingersoll, in Peoria on Nov. 23, 1939, at St. Andrew's Church. She is survived by her husband of 67 years.

    Also surviving are her daughter, Donna (Terry) Richmond of Indianapolis, Ind; granddaughter, Aimee M. (Patrick) Rhoads of Tacoma, Wash; grandson, U.S. Army Ranger Justin A. (Caroline) Richmond, currently deployed overseas; and great-granddaughter, Rowan Rebecca Rhoads.

    Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents.

    Jeanne attended Bradley University in Peoria, studying engineering - very unusual for a woman during WWII years.

    She worked 18 years at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria, and after moving to LaGrange, worked for 20 years and retired from Western Electric, a branch of AT&T, commuting to her office in the Merchandise Mart of downtown Chicago and later near O'Hare Airport. She and husband Donald owned and operated Ingersoll Tru Value Hardware Stores in LaGrange, Ill., and later in Peoria, Ill., for many years. They retired and moved to Batesville, Ind., in 1980 to be near daughter Donna and family.

    Jeanne and Donald thoroughly enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of Prom Dancing Club in Peoria, Ill., for many years, serving as club officers. She also was active in Shrine activities with Don.

    Jeanne doted on her daughter, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She also thoroughly enjoyed her beloved pets, dogs Butch, Tyke and Missy and cats Ralph and Blackie.

    Her life touched so many, and Jeanne will always joyfully remain in our hearts.

    Burial will be in United Methodist Cemetery of Batesville.
