    PEORIA - Marjorie May Ingersoll Gares, 101, formerly of Peoria, died at 2:41 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at ManorCare at Riverview in East Peoria, where she was a resident.
    Born March 30, 1902, in Canton to John and Alma Pemberton Dosier, she married Vernice G. Ingersoll on April 10, 1920, in Peoria. He died June 12, 1959.
    She later married Ivan E. Gares on May 22, 1977, in Peoria. He died June 21, 1981.
    She also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
    Surviving are two sons, Bruce (and Carol) Ingersoll of Morton and Donald (and Jeanne) Ingersoll of Batesville, Ind; one stepdaughter, Marian Leroy of Peoria; one stepson, Eddie Gares of Peoria; one sister, Lora Mangle of Sherman; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
    She was a Red Cross volunteer during World War I.
    She worked for ABC Washing Machine Co., which made ammunition for the Navy, during World War II.
    A Realtor for 31 years, she worked for Kaufman Realty and later for Baxter-Roth Realty, until retiring in 1978.
    She was a 55-year member and past worthy matron of Creve Coeur Chapter 946, Order of the Eastern Star, and also served as Grand Representative of Virginia in Illinois.
    She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile.
    She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Peoria, where services will be at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Thomas Bayes Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery in Green Valley.
    Memorials may be made to her church or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the FOREST CITY, IL - John Lewis Dosier, 74, of Forest City passed away at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at home with his loving family by his side.

    He was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Lincoln, the son of Clarence Nelson and Eva Tobias Dosier.

    He was a graduate of Forman High School Class of l953 and received a bachelor of science degree in farm operations from Iowa State University in 1958, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

    John married Diane Doner on May 31, 1958, in Winona, Minn. After one year in Los Angeles, he and Diane returned to Forest City in l959. John operated the family farm for nearly 50 years, including for two decades a purebred Hampshire hog operation that competed in state and national exhibitions and sold stock to buyers as far away as China, Japan and Korea.

    John enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and genealogy.

    He was a life member (32nd degree) of the Freemasons Grand Lodge, AF&AM, in Manito. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite in Peoria.

    Survivors include his loving wife of more than 51 years, Diane Dosier of Mason City Area Nursing Home; four children, Karen Ralls of Oxford, England; Denise (Keith) Gregg of Elm Grove, Wis; David (Lisa) Dosier of Forest City and Mark (Beth) Dosier of Chicago; two siblings, Darlene (Jim) Hanley of Bonita Springs, Fla., and George Tobias of San Francisco; and eight grandchildren.

    John was preceded in death by his parents.

    Internment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Forest City.
