FOREST CITY - James H. Rochester, 91 year old lifelong resident of Forest City, died at 1 a.m. Sunday in his home after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson Funeral Home at Manito with Rev. Harold D. Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation began at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born at Forest City April 8, 1871, he was a son of Samuel and Perlina Hall Rochester. He married Nora Counterman at Pekin June 2, 1920, and she survives.
Other survivors include two brothers, Earl H. Rochester of Forest City and Jess Rochester of Creve Coeur. Five sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Rochester had served as custodian of Forest City Schools 25 years prior to retiring four years ago. Before that he had been a building contractor.
As a scoutmaster he had organized several troops in Central Illinois.
