  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the Robert Marzahn died at his home in Waterville, Feb. 14. He was born in Iosco Township, fifty six years ago, and was one of the well known residents of the community.--Elysian Enterprise 24 Feb 1922.--Contributed to Waterville Advance--Robert J Marzahn was born in Iosco, Waseca County, Minn., July 27, 1866 and came to Waterville in 1907, where he made his home until his death on Feb. 14. He was married to Lydia Miller Feb. 25, 1891. To Mr. and Mrs. Marzzahn were born six children, two of whom are dead and four survive. Those living are Mrs. Lester Cram, Mason, Adaline and Margaret. Deceased leaves
besides the beloved wife and children, four brothers, August, Frank, Fred and Paul. There were three sisters, all of whom have died. Mr. Marzahn was an efficient husband, a loving father, a kind neighbor and one of Waterville's very best citizens. He lived a true Christian life every day in the week and every week in the year. Just previous to dying he said to his family "Good bye All, God is coming to get me" We can say of Mr. Marzahn what the Bible says of Enock "He walked with God, and he was not for God" For about four years Mr. Marzahn did not feel well. He fell asleep in Jesus at 4:30pm, Feb. 14, 1922. Funeral services were held in the English ME church at Waterville, where a large crowd of relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects to Mr. Marzahn. Rev. L Passer preached in the German language and Rev. James Castles spoke in the English language.--Mr. Robert Marzahn is a native of Iosco, having been born in this county on July 27, 1866. His father, Wm. Marzahn, was a native of Germany, and settled in Iosco in 1856, having arrived in America in 1855. The father died June 27, 1893, at the age of seventy three years. Robert married Miss Lydia Miller, of the same town, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Miller, Feb. 25, 1891. They have one son and two daughters; Mason, Esther and Adeline. Mrs. Marzahn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Miller, were among the early settlers of Iosco, and reared a family of four sons and five daughters, Mr. Miller died Aug. 2, 1900, and Mrs. Miller Nov. 14 of the same year. Mr. Robert Marzahn's mother is still living at Morristown. Robert owns a valuable farm of three hundred twenty acres in sections 1, 2, 10 and 11, in that township, and is one of the prospreous young farmers of the county.--Probably from Child's History of Waseca.--Thiel Reinecke on Friday, 24 February 1922.
