  The subject of this sketch was born in Jackson county, Miss., Nov. 28th, 1851, was rased in that county, was married, and lived there until about four years ago, when he removed to this parish, settling near the Burleson & Bro.'s Mills. On the 20th day of April Mr. Burleson had the misfortune to have his band crushed in the planing mill at Deesport, and although the shock was great and the pain intense, his family thought he was doing very well, up to Friday, 30th alt., when sitting in the doorway he experienced a chilly sensation and began to grow rapidly worse, showing evident signs of tetanus, or lockjaw. The family physician was summoned, and did everything possible, but could only give temporary relief, and he continued to grow worse until Monday morning, 3rd inst., at about 9 o'clock, when death closed his earthly career. Mr. Burleson was a generous, warm hearted man of quiet, modest and unassuming nature, a true friend, a noble brother, a loving companion and an indulgent father. His demise, which was so unexpected, was a shock to the community, and his loss creates an aching void in the heart of many a warm friend. THe bereaved have our deepest sympathies, and we commend the grief stricken companion and her four fatherless little ones to the care of Him, who has promised to be a father to the fatherless and a husband to the widow. after 3 May 1886.
