She attended grade school at West Branch and Mitchell, and high school in Tygh Valley (Dufur). In May, 1932 she graduated from Mitchell High School. She lived most of her life in Oregon, and considered Prineville, where she moved in 1956, to be her home.
  Ruth was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, Mitchell Lioness Club, Prineville Lions Club and Prineville Eagles Club. Ruth was an avid sewer and quilter, and also enjoyed working with fabric and handiwork. She enjoyed dancing, and collecting rocks and old coins. She had a deep appreciation for Native American culture, and was thrilled to find arrowheads and other Native American tools around central Oregon. She also loved laughing, children, (especially young babies and her own great-grandchildren), Mitchell, hunting, fishing and the Atlanta Braves.
  She was preceded in death by her husband James, son Joe, her sisters Gladys, Elsie and Mary, and her brothers Willard and Ray.
  Ruth is survived by her son Jimmy of Copalis Beach, Wash. and daughter Molly Destefano, of Spokane, Wash., 12 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
  The funeral will be held at Whispering Pines Funeral Home in Prineville, Ore. on Friday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. Burial and graveside services will follow at the West Branch Cemetery near Mitchell, and a community potluck dinner will follow.   Ray is survived by one son, Darrel and his wife Donna Gage of Hermiston, Oregon, one daughter, Susie and her husband Mike Kelley of Prineville, Oregon; one sister, Ruth Mulvahill, of Prineville, Oregon. Ray is also survived by, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grand children.
