Mr. Mitchell was born July 2, 1904, in Yakima. He served in the Navy. In 1926, he moved to Oregon City and earned a law degree from Northwestern School of Law, now Lewis & Clark Law School. He was an attorney in private practice in Oregon City, a district attorney for Clackamas County for eight years and later a justice of the peace in Florence. He moved to Lacey in 1997. In 1926, he married Bertha Lauth; she died in 2001. Survivors include his son, Stanley J. Jr; daughter, Myra Richards; sisters, Alma Wilson and Lola Emel; companion, Virginia Mouer; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Remembrances to the church.
