    Oct. 27, 1917 - March 14, 2006
Kenneth J. Davis, 88, of Billings, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, after a prolonged illness. He used to say, "I woke up this morning and my name wasn't in the paper, so I guess it's a good day." Today, his name is in the paper; his family and friends will always remember him for his loving and generous manner.
Kenneth was born in Davenport, Wash., to George and Ethel Davis on Oct. 27, 1917. He was the middle of 10 children. He attended schools in Washington and Montana. He graduated from Davenport, Wash., high school. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp. during World War II and was a radio operator in a B-17 bomber, serving in Ipswich, England. During this time, he became familiar with radio technology and communications, which later launched his lifetime career.
In 1945, in Denver, he met and married Irma Elizabeth Lawson and eventually they moved to Billings. In Billings, he started a radio and television business in downtown Billings on North 27th Street. Ken developed his career by repairing radio and televisions and additionally selling televisions and appliances. In 1952, he built the commercial building at 1945 Grand Ave., and developed Davis TV and Appliance.
Ken and Irma had two children, Deborah Laurette Davis Thurman, now residing in Houston, and Herbert Wesley Davis of Tacoma, Wash. For several years, Ken operated Davis TV and Appliance and enjoyed his civic activities and organizations, which included the Elks Club, Billings Golden "K" Kiwanis, Davis TV bowling league and Rotary Club. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Billings. In November of 1980, his wife, Irma, passed away, and Ken chose to dissolve his business and enjoy retirement.
In June 1987, he married Shirley Ann Ruffcorn Clark. Ken has five stepchildren, Mike Clark of Helena, Dan Clark of Denver, Doug Knoche of Billings, Patty Wages of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Chuck Clark of Greenville, Miss. Additionally, Ken was loved by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ken will be remembered as a very caring and generous individual who loved to lend a helping hand. He loved the people within the community of Billings, Mont., and enjoyed many happy times sharing his Red Lodge property with friends.
