    Mr. Humble was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Portland and graduated from Benson High School. He married Gladys Pietzold in 1936. He was a Southern Pacific Railroad employee from 1935 to 1976 and retired as general yard master.
    Survivors include his wife; daughter, Pat Harm of Gresham; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    William J. Hendricks, 67, of Creston died Thursday, June 2, 1994, at his residence.
    Mr. Hendricks was born July 31, 1926, in Los Angeles. He graduated from UCLA with an M.A. in social welfare. He served his country both in World War II and the Korean conflict. He worked for the California Department of Corrections for 30 years prior to retiring as an administrator from the California Men's Colony to become a rancher in Creston.
    Along with Dr. Lou Tedone, Mr. Hendricks founded the county's first mental health clinic under the Short-Doyle Act. He taught graduate school for both LaVerne and Chapman college extensions. He had a license for child, family, and marital counseling and volunteered hundreds of hours to help families in the community. He was also a volunteer counselor for the County Probation Department and was extremely involved in activities at Creston Community Church.
    He is survived by his wife, Constance Hendricks of Creston; a son, Rick Hendricks; a daughter, Teri Wittenberg and her husband, Joe; three grandchildren; a brother, Edward Hendricks; several nephews; and a neice.
    Contributions may be made to Creston Community Church.

    Charles Frederick Mens, 79, of Bedford, died Monday, January 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Minnesota on October 10, 1928, a son of the late William J. Mens and Elda Ikoff Mens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Mens. Charlie was a greeter at Walmart and had many friends. Charlie was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Padgett Mens; his children, Joyce Honack, Charles Mens, Jr; Donald Mens, Tina Mens, Patricia Mens and Melanie Mens; his stepchildren, Rev. Kenneth Wayne Moore, Rev. David R. Moore, Rev. Owen Moore, Maj. James D. Moore, Chaplain US Army, Jeffrey Moore, Stanley Oldham; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Maynard Mens. Memorials may be made to the Bedford Life Saving Crew. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Moore officiating. A warm and welcoming man, he will be remembered for his generous hospitality, love of family gatherings and his love of Sonoma. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Eickhoff, by his loving children, Francis and Alvin Eickhoff and Yvonne Salz, all of Sonoma and Rebecca Eickhoff, of Middletown, as well as his grandchildren Jesse and Jeremy Apgar, of Sonoma, Willie Eickhoff, of Fort Bragg and Shaleen Day Eickhoff, of Middletown. He was affiliated with the Redmond Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Redmond Masonic Lodge and Redmond Order of the Eastern Star #120. Survivors include his wife of Eugene; two daughters, Laurie Siefte of Springfield and Susan Cunningham of Lehi, Utah; three stepdaughters, Lisa Juran of Woodland, Calif., Dianna Webb of Spokane, Wash., and Cindy Livingston of Bend; three brothers, Robert of Boys Hot Springs, Calif., Richard of Sun City, Ariz., and Donald of Eugene; two sisters, LaRue Drais of Sonoma, Calif., and Marian Clack of Myrtle Creek; and six grandchildren.
