F, b. 6 May 1930, d. 9 May 2019
  • Married Name: As of 14 February 1950,her married name was Carlson.
  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the Elaine May Carlson was born May 6, 1930, to Sylvester and Sarah Moore in North Branch, MN. She grew up on their rural farm outside Stacy with her older brother, Robert. She attended school in Stacy and North Branch. Following her high school graduation, she moved to St. Paul and worked for Montgomery Ward and St. Paul Fire and Marine. About this time, Linda became her younger sister.

Even though she and Curtis Carlson both attended North Branch High School, they didn’t date until they attended the St. Croix Valley Youth following graduation. They were married on February 14, 1950, during a blizzard. Curtis was farming with his father in rural Harris where they settled and raised their family.

They attended Harris Covenant Church where Elaine was active with various women’s ministries and often sang in the choir and smaller groups. Her love of music has been passed on to her family. Elaine was involved in Homemakers, 4-H, and Farm Bureau.

In the 1970s Curtis sold the dairy cattle and replaced them with beef so that he could go trucking. About this time Elaine got her school bus driver’s license and became the “meanest bus driver in the North Branch district” (according to Randy and Sonda). Later she joined Curtis and drove semi truck across the lower 48 US states until she and Curtis retired to the farm in their 60s.

Elaine kept busy raising 6 children: Roger (Marsha), Sylvia (Mark-deceased), Sharon, Royal (Debbie-deceased), Randy (Karen), Sonda (Brad). She enjoyed her grandchildren: Nathan, Ben, LeeAnne, Jeremiah, Jeremy, Jesse, Heidi, Eleni, Kristos, Michael (deceased), Jared, Christy, Kelli, Katie, Megan, Andrea, Zachary, Branda, Riley, Tennie. She also cherished her great grandchildren: Emmett, Brooklyn, Marcus, Jonathan, Theadora, Brooks, Amelia, and Linnea.

Elaine was a great baker and cook. She enjoyed researching our family genealogies, sewing, knitting, tatting, ceramics, upholstery, gardening and watching birds, especially humming birds. She enjoyed life on the farm and doing puzzles and playing board games with her family. after 9 May 2019 Minnesota.
