Francis married Minerva Hyde on October 14, 1933 in Vancouver, WA. They settled in Waldport and later moved to Corvallis. During WWII, Francis worked in Portland on the railroad and in the shipyards. He also worked on the Alaska Highway and in the Aleutian Islands during the war. The family later moved to Five Rivers, Waldport and then came back to Corvallis in 1956. Francis worked for Rex Veneer in Philomath and retired from Willamette Industries in 1973. They settled in Dallas in 1995. Francis enjoyed oil painting and had painted well over 200 paintings which he enjoyed giving to friends and family. He also enjoyed family hunting trips and traveling. Francis was an avid OSU sports fan. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks lodge in Corvallis. He is survived by his wife; Minerva of Dallas, Sons; Lynn & wife Sherril of Salem, Lance and wife Deborah of Albuquerque, NM, Brother; James of Beavercreek along with 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Loren in 1943. Services will be on Saturday, March 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Dallas First Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery in Philomath. Memorial contributions may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice or the Salvation Army in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center.
