    A memorial service for Thelma Buley Sweeney of Lake Oswego will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Portland Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
    She died of causes related to age Sunday in a Tualatin hospital. Mrs. Sweeney was 86.
    She was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Eugene, where she was raised and graduated from high school. She earned an associate's certificate in business administration from the University of Oregon and later was dean of women at the university. She married Glenn Sweeney on Dec. 31, 1941, in Eugene.
    As a young woman, Mrs. Sweeney worked for Shell Oil Co. and the Federal Housing Authority and also had been an employment officer for the Oregon State Employment Agency for five years. Additionally, she did clerical work for the U.S. Forest Service for about five years.
    Mrs. Sweeney had lived in the Portland area since 1950. She worked as a hostess for Welcome Wagon International for 35 years until her retirement in 1985.
    Mrs. Sweeney was a past president of Toastmistress International and the Robin Hood Toastmistress Club in Lake Oswego. She served as the first president of the Newcomers of Lake Oswego.
    Survivors besides her husband include her son, Forrest V. of Lake Oswgo.
    The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

    Forrest “Val” Sweeney died in his sleep on May 8, 2009. He was 63.
    Mr. Sweeney was born on Jan. 7, 1946. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sweeney of Lake Oswego. He grew up in Lake Oswego and graduated from Lake Oswego High School in l965 where he was a member of the varsity rally squad and an Eagle Scout.
    He followed a career in art and became a well-known Portland-area sculptor creating metal sculptures primarily of Oregon’s natural settings and wildlife.
    He lived and worked in Lake Oswego until 2007 when he moved to Troutdale.
    A private memorial has been held by Cornerstone Funeral Services and Crematorium. Remembrances may be sent to the Lake Oswego High School Art Department, 2501 Country Club Road, Lake Oswego 97034.

    Corinne was born of the pioneer family of Wm. Claggett on the family farm in Keizer, Oregon, on July 8, 1914. She passed away on March 27, 2010. She was preceded by her husband Bill Chapman after 34 years of marriage. Corinne is survived by their daughter Phyllis Chapman Kellogg (John), grandchildren Brian Kellogg (Denise), Sean Kellogg (Mackenzie), two great-grandchildren Marissa and Kyle Kellogg. She is also survived by her sister Mary Alice John of Enumclaw, Washington and two nieces and a nephew. Corinne and Bill were one of the first families to move into North Highlands. In fact they had the only telephone in the area at a booth outside their house. They were both very active in the community. Corinne was a past president of the North Highlands Garden Club and numerous PTA groups in the Grant Union School District. She was also past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Locomotive Engineers 415. Thank you to all the people who cared fo her at Sunrise Healthcare and Kaiser Hospital North in her final days.
