Tubbs on Oct. 24, 1889; to this union were born five children, two dying in infancy and three living: Mrs. J.R. Armstrong of Des Moines, Ia., Mr. Merle Tubbs of Shenandoah, Ia., and Mr. Russell Tubbs of Lake City. On Feb. 24, 1926, Mrs. Tubbs underwent an operation at Cherokee, Iowa, returning home the last of March, since when she had been under the care of her daughter, Mrs. Armstrong, who was so faithful in administering to her mother's wants until she passed away on May 21, 1926, being 56 years, eight months and six days of age. Sister Tubbs was a member of the United Brethren Church in Christ and one of the most faithful members of the church. The relatives and friends who loved her so dearly will miss a faithful friend and neighbor, and she is a great loss to the church, but sister Tubbs died in the Lord, and she is now resting her works will follow her. She was a kind and affectionate wife, and a very dear mother to her children. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, three children, three sisters, Mrs. Clark Durkee of Hammond, Ind., Mrs. Henry Brown of Northport, Neb., and Mrs. Kittie Purdy of Rockwell City, Ia., and many other near relatives and friends. Sister Tubbs talked to the children and other relatives about living a Godly life and told them how she was at peace with the Lord and ready to meet him. I visited her a great many times during her illness, and I believe with all my heart that this was her testimony, that she pleased the Lord. The funeral services were conducted at the U.B. Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Sparks. Interment in Lake City Cemetery.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Ron Darby of 50 years, her parents Lloyd and Virginia Seufert and her brothers Dewayne and Butch Seufert. She is survived by her sister Connie Fletcher (Dean) of La Pine, OR. Her children Tammy Cottrill (Brian) of Portland, OR, Richard Schmid of Tillamook, OR, Gena Yates (Anthony) of Roseburg OR, Ronda (Larry) Peak of Tillamook, OR and Kim Darby of Tillamook, OR. Grandchildren Michelle Pifer (Cottrill), Lacey Cottrill, Amanda (Brad) Bynum, David Vanburen, Josh (Naomi)Jones, Tara Darby, Chris Yates, Tasha Yates, Carlee (Ben) Gress, Trisha (Frank) Kress, Rusty (Natasha) Peak, Billy Benedict (Kaylie), Aubreahna Darby ( Butch) and Manny Munoz-Darby. Many great grandkids, nieces and nephews, and bonus grandkids. She was a great wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her family meant everything to her, and she will be missed by everyone.
  A service will be held January 11th at 11 A.M at Waud’s Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2023. on Tuesday, 10 January 2023 Tillamook, Tillamook County, Oregon.

Lena was also preceded in death by one son, Vernon Darby Jr; a brother, George Mackey; and by her sister Etta Fleck. Lena leaves behind to honor her life her loving family, daughters, Barbara Bond of Tillamook, and Connie Calvert and companion Ed Kellogg of Netarts; sister, Ella Trammel of Tillamook and brother Buster Mackey; sister-in-law, Carol Mackey of Tillamook; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and long time companion, Albert Butchler. In lieu of flowers, donations to offset the cost of cremation arrangements may be made care of Waud’s Funeral Home. A potluck gathering will be held at Lena’s residence at 1 p.m. Nov. 12. on Tuesday, 1 November 2011 Tillamook, Tillamook County, Oregon.
