- Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the MARGARET ARLETTA (AKA Margaret Snow) MINGLE
Margaret was born to Maggie and Henry Russell Snow in Fresno. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Fred Mingle, brothers Dick McKay, Russ Snow and Temple Gilliam and sisters Velma MacDonald and Vemba Greene and her beloved grandson Ross Jenkins III (RJ).
Margaret is survived by daughters Pat Haun, her partner Lavelle Barnes and Carol Jenkins (Ross); grandchildren, Patrick Jenkins, Jami Garcia (Adrian); great-grandchildren Austin and Morgan Garcia. Readers be warned, as Margaret was not your "typical" 101 year old. With her zest for life and trail blazing independence she leaves behind a rather large pair of shoes to fill. Margaret graduated from Fresno High in 1930. Margaret enrolled in Fresno State College earning her "sheep skin" with her BA in 1935. Margaret returned to the family business after college and eventually met who was to become the love of her life, Fred Mingle. In 1949 Fred and Margaret purchased the historic "Fresno Brewery" where they owned and operated their businesses for over 60 years. Margaret had a passion for travel and politics and frequently combined the two, touring presidential libraries, Washington D.C. as well as most California. Margaret continued to live life to the fullest, traveling and working five days a week well past her 101st birthday. She lived every day of her life "her way" and she did the same on her departure. It was on her terms, in her time with her family and cat, Walter, by her side.
Celebration of Life to be held 11:00 a.m. on May 18, 2013, at the Fresno Brewery, 100 M. St Fresno, Ca.
