Mrs. William Grant, who came to Oregon in 1852, seven years before the territory became a state died yesterday at her home, 1635 North Alberta street. Funeral services have not yet been arranged.
Born in Shelbyville, Mo., on October 30, 1845, Mrs. Grant crossed the Isthmus of Panama with her parents and settled in the Oregon territory near Dallas. She married William Grant at the age of 16 years. Grant was related to Cornelius Gilliam, for whom that county in Oregon was named.
Five children were born to the Grants, four sons and a daughter. Glenn, a son, died last year. Mrs. Grant is survived by three son, U.S. and Mac Grant of Dallas, Belden H. of Miles City, Mont; and a daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Lane, with whom she has made her home.
