Lisa Obunge (nee Mohney) a life long resident of Portland, Oregon passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the age of 57 due to an extended illness related to heart failure. Lisa is survived by her husband, Abiye Obunge; mother, Patricia Mohney; sisters, Laura Carter and Drew; niece, Ashley Carter; Nephew-in-law, Wade Coggins; nephew Nick Carter and wife Malynda, and great nephews, Kade and Axel.
Lisa graduated from Sunset High School in 1981. She won scholastic awards and was second runner-up in the Miss Oregon contest.
Lisa worked in developmental and planning, raised funds for non-profits, and other enterprises. She held upper level administrative and organizational positions.
Lisa was creative as an entrepreneur. She created a non-profit called Twinkle Toes for at risk children, annual backpack fundraisers for underprovided children, and worked on various projects with Maurice Lucas.
Lisa was devoted to her family. Her favorite outings were trips to the beach, especially with her nephews, Kade and Axel. She loved history and created an archive of family history. Over the last six months she created YouTube videos called “Celebrate with Lisa” in which she showed creative ideas on how to celebrate various holidays and occasions.
She will be deeply missed by friends and family and all who knew her. Her positive attitude was a testimony to her strong faith.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date. In Lieu of flowers please donate to American Heart Association. after 15 April 2020.
