- Census*: He appeared on the census of 1840 at Eden, Seneca County, Ohio.
- Note*: He died after 1842, indicated by a Court Entry in February 1842 at Seneca County, Ohio.
- Note: He DOES have a descendant with a Big Y-700 DNA test revealing he descends from Chedester/Chichester/Chidester/Chester spelling variants; likely from David Chichester 1658-1712 New Haven, CT & Alice Bayley 1672-1700 by their son, Samuel Chidester 1694-1761 & Mehitable Mable Tuller via their son, Samuel Chidester 1729-1791 & Elizabeth Hannah Ayers. Seeking additional documentation to learn which branch shortened the surname spelling to Chester and where our branch connects.
- Note: He does not descend from Joseph Chester b 1780 & Elizabeth Aiken b 1784 (Ruled out with Y-DNA.)
- Note: He does not descend from Ontario Canada Chester line: Some researchers of the Canadian branch descendants have proposed Jesse Chester is the name of William Chester, with his parents: John Chester b. 28 Nov 1763 Albany NY d. 19 May 1839 Montague Grenville, Ontario, Canada; and his wife, Phoebe Brown b. 5 Nov 1768 Kingsbury, NY d. Montague Grenville, Ontario, Canada.
This seems unlikely given the census entries and the lack of documentation found to this date to indicate the Jesse Chester of Canada ever was in Ohio.
