Cassie was a great-great-granddaughter of John Brisbin who died at Grave Creek in 1846 on the Applegate Trail, and a granddaughter of Isaac Kent who came to Oregon on the Oregon Trail in early 1852.She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers. She enjoyed genealogy, bridge, reading and traveling. Cassie is survived by her son, Kent Higginbotham and his wife, Linda of Tigard, Ore; a daughter-in-law, Patty Higginbotham of Grants Pass, who was married to the late Fred Higginbotham; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
